In dogs and cats, alendronate may be used to treat animals with too much calcium in the blood or as part of the treatment for some types of bone cancer. In cats, it may also be used to help treat a dental condition called feline odontoclastic resorptive lesions (FORLs). Alendronate works by slowing bone loss in the body.
