Carprovet (a brand for Carprofen) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) prescribed to relieve pain and inflammation caused by arthritis and other joint problems, so you can help your dog maintain her regular activity levels and quality of life. It is also used to treat post-operative pain and inflammation. Carprofen works by blocking the production of certain body chemicals that cause inflammation. Its efficacy in treating OA makes it a trusted long-term treatment, as well as for short-term use after surgery. The nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory properties work to reduce joint inflammation while the analgesic properties work to reduce pain.

Carprofen

As with other NSAIDs, signs of carprofen intolerance may include appetite loss, vomiting and diarrhea, which could indicate side effects involving the digestive tract, liver or kidneys. Some of these side effects, in rare situations, may be serious, resulting in hospitalization or even death. Pet owners should be advised to discontinue treatment if side effects occur and contact their veterinarian. Concomitant use of Carprovet (carprofen) Flavored Tablets with other anti-inflammatory drugs, such as other NSAIDs or corticosteroids, should be avoided because of the potential increase of adverse reactions.
