Furosemide is a diuretic used to treat fluid build-up, most commonly due to heart failure. It can treat fluid found in the lungs, kidney diseases, congestive heart failure and other heart diseases. It may also be prescribed in addition to other drugs to treat high blood pressure, high potassium blood levels, fluid in the abdomen and certain types of tissue swelling.
Brand name versions of this drug include Salix, Lasix, and Disal.
This medication comes in oral tablet, oral syrup, oral solution, and injectible forms.
Indications
For the treatment of edema associated with cardiac insufficiency and acute non-inflammatory tissue edema in dogs, cats and horses.
